any custom bike shops in town?

No problem. There is also Bicycle Builder and One more on Del Paso out here by me but they are both o bit shady. The one on Del Paso from first hand experience the other by reputation.

Yes I have volunteered at bike kitchen in the past. Cool spot but it really depends who is running it as to what kind of deals you can get.

Can't go wrong dealing with Mike. But if you are ever down in Stockton check out the shop I work at called port city Cyclery. And if u guys wanna chat more on this forum let me know. Basically the original idea was rat rod bikes. Com. But here u can day whatever the hell you want!
